KASN Solar Streetlights Illuminate Kenyan Communities
In a bid to enhance sustainable energy access, KASN has successfully installed 8-meter solar-powered streetlights with 60W LED across underserved regions of Kenya. The initiative, completed in May 2025, has transformed night-time safety and economic activities in local villages.
The solar street light harness abundant sunlight during the day, providing 10-12 hours of illumination nightly without grid dependency. Residents report improved security for women and children, extended market hours for vendors, and brighter communal spaces for education. A local teacher remarked, "Children now study under streetlights after sunset—this is progress."
KASN’s project aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030 renewable energy goals, reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 15 tons annually per 100 units. Future phases aim to expand coverage to 50 more villages by 2026.
